UK POP CHART HISTORY - APRIL 1972
One month earlier on March 25th at Edinburgh's Usher Hall, The New Seekers - who were hotly tipped to
win - had to settle for second place at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The top spot went to Luxembourg's Vicky Leandros, who managed to clinch victory for her country
with 'Apres Toi'.
Vicky's English re-recording of this winning entry (Come What May) is this week's highest new entry
at number 14.
A little bit of Eurovision trivia for ya...
The lyricist for 'Apres Toi', also wrote the lyrics for 'Un Banc, Un Arbre, Une Rue' the winning entry
for Monaco in 1971. Thus, Yves Desca became the second person to win the contest twice, the first person
to win for two different countries and the first person to win two years running.
