UK POP CHART HISTORY - JANUARY 1972
The new year sees Benny Hill clinging to the top spot for a fourth and final week. Having secured the much coveted Christmas number one with 'Ernie', he also managed to successfully stave off Marc Bolan's T.Rex, interrupting their run of consecutive chart toppers. 'Jeepster' was the follow up single to 'Get it On', which along with its predecessor 'Hot Love' had given Marc Bolan two consecutive number one singles during 1971.
