UK POP CHART HISTORY - JUNE 1972
This week's highest new entry at number 6 marks the chart debut of 32 year old Gary Glitter. A bit of a strange one really. It was only when certain radio DJ's started playing part 2 (which is essentially part 1 with the vocal parts to the verses deleted), that this record started to gain any momentum. Hence, Glitter had to promote his debut hit on TV by miming to a record that contained nothing more, in terms of his personal contribution, than an occasional HEY! on the choruses.
