UK POP CHART HISTORY - JANUARY 1972
The anglo-antipodean New Seekers get their first of two UK chart toppers this week with a song that was originally written as an advertisement for Coca Cola (I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke). Further down the charts 12 year old Opportunity Knocks winner, Neil Reid, continues to make steady progress with his debut single 'Mother Of Mine'. For some strange reason it suddenly became compulsory for every teenage kid in the country to grit their teeth and buy a copy of this awful record for their Mam.
