UK POP CHART HISTORY - JULY 1972

This week's highest new entry at number 12 comes courtesy of pub rock legends Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts. After witnessing the huge success of Mungo Jerry's blazing summer smash 'In The Summertime' two years earlier, they unashamedly abandoned their blues rock credentials, assumed the nom de plume, Terry Dactyl And The Dinosaurs, then attempted to create their very own summertime pop classic in the shape of 'Seaside Shuffle'.
Their plan worked in as much as 'Seaside Shuffle' went on to peak at number 2. Shortly after this success though, Jona Lewie, their lead singer and songwriter, left the band to begin a solo career.
