UK POP CHART HISTORY - OCTOBER 1972

We have four new entries in this week's top 20. At number 11, Elvis Presley enjoys his 11th visit to the UK top 20 this decade with 'Burning Love'. At number 17, it's first time lucky for 10CC with their debut single 'Donna'. One place below them at number 18, comes the only chart appearance for Australian band, Python Lee Jackson. 'In A Broken Dream' was actually recorded in 1969, with a then unknown session singer named Rod Stewart providing the lead vocal. If the record company hadn't decided to cash in on Rod's recent solo success by re-releasing 'In A Broken Dream', it would almost certainly have languished eternally as a lost classic. Finally, crawling in at number 20, is David Bowie, with his second hit single of the year, 'John I'm Only Dancing'.
