UK POP CHART HISTORY - OCTOBER 1972
Gilbert O' Sullivan returns for his sixth visit to the UK's top 20 chart with this week's highest
new entry at number 15, 'Clair'. This was apparently written about the daughter of his then manager,
Gordon Mills, whom Gilbert would have the regular privilege of baby-sitting.
The Carpenters also achieve a new entry at number 18 with their third top 20 hit, 'Goodbye To Love'.
One place below them at number 19, this week's final new entry comes courtesy of Family.
'Burlesque' will prove to be the final hit for the Leicester-based rock band.
