UK POP CHART HISTORY - NOVEMBER 1972
There are only two new entries in this week's top 20 and, amazingly, they're both re-issues of classic
hits from the sixties. Storming in at number 6 is 'Leader Of The Pack' from the all girl group The
Shangri-Las. 'Leader Of The Pack' was originally a number 11 hit for the girls back in 1965. This time,
however, it will go on to achieve greater success, by peaking at number 3.
And the story doesn't end there either...
In 1976, 'Leader Of The Pack' will be back to make its third and final (so far) appearance in the
UK top 20.
The other sixties classic to get a new lease of life this week is 'Let's Dance' by Chris Montez.
Exactly ten years ago this week, in 1962, 'Let's Dance' gave Chris Montez his first and biggest
UK hit when it peaked at number 2.
