UK POP CHART HISTORY - NOVEMBER 1972
Gilbert O' Sullivan achieves his first of two UK chart toppers this week with 'Clair'.
The highest new entry at number 6 is 'My Ding-A-Ling' by Chuck Berry. After an
eight year absence from the UK top 20, this marks a welcome return for the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Archie Bell and the Drells make their UK chart debut at number 11. Further down the chart, entering at
number 19, is the romantic offering 'I'm Stone In Love With You' by The Stylistics. And finally, crawling in at number 20, is
a snappy little number called 'Crocodile Rock', which gives Elton John his third UK top 20 single.
