UK POP CHART HISTORY - NOVEMBER 1972
Chuck Berry finally gets a UK number 1 hit this week with 'My Ding-A-Ling'. Amazingly, this is
only his fourth visit to the UK top 20 during his first 25 years as a recording artist.
This week's highest new entry, at number 8, is the sixth top 20 hit for Bovver Boys turned
Glam Rock Icons, Slade. At number ten, Rod Stewart enters the top 20 with a double-A side
single containing cover versions of two classic favourites of his. The Jackson 5 also have a new entry this
week at number 13. And finally, at number 20, The Strawbs make their chart debut with 'Lay Down'.
