• Byram moves local election to November
  BYRAM -- The Byram Township Council voted to move its municipal elections from May to November in a 3-to-2 vote. "I thought if the change was made, it should have been made by the voters," Councilman Scott Olson said of Monday night's vote.



• August Proves to be Busy Month for Arkansas Wildfires
  Arkansas Forestry Commission (AFC) crews put out 46 fires that burned 513 acres over the weekend. The biggest fire was in Clark County and burned 255 acres. It's believed to have started when grass touched the catalytic converter of a vehicle parked for a short time on the side of Highway 8.
